Shortly after he took part in a political youth camp in Germany when he was 20 years old, the army usurped power in 1980 and Hazar could not return to his country for the next seven years. This is the story of Nedim Hazar, which leads us from "provoking" workers with an accordion, to world music charts, to a person who in his own terms produces "documentaries and not illustrated news articles" today.

Asylum on the Bosphorus

Not only Jews fled Germany, when Hitler took over power in 1933. Many Christians, who opposed the regime migrated too. Some of them came to Turkey. Nedim Hazar, a documentary filmmaker living in Germany, is presently shooting a film this migration, focussing on two Germans, who experienced it: the 73-year-old Cornelius Bischoff and the 75-year-old Adelheid Scholz. With a budget of 400 thousand DM, this film is due to be broadcast in 3 Sat on the 28th of October.
